Days 0 and 1

Got to Cali safely, albeit slowly (not happy about that).

Notes so far...

- This is the only time I've ever driven in/through Cali on open, non-rush hour highways that people *weren't* going at least 10 mph over the posted speed limit. Driving slow in Cali FTW???

- We're on the 12th floor of the 14-floor Hilton. Good for the view (which, by the way, is absolutely perfect for the Disneyland evening fireworks...will get some great pictures!); terrible for elevator traffic w/no air circulation.

- Jared Arthur and friends showed up at about 1:30 AM, waking me up to come in the room. I'm thrilled that "and friends" showed up because it looks like a few of our other vols might not. Sadly I still have to refer to them as "and friends" because I don't know their names yet.

- There should be a rule that you *can't* cosplay Aerith if you weigh more than 150 lbs, and you *shouldn't* cosplay her if you weigh more than 130. She was rather slight of build - to see her buff or hefty just looks weird.

- Our first tournament was supposed to start at 2:00 PM. The computer clock says 2:10 PM right now. Not a soul is here but me in our tournament room. Sad days. It's the first day, though...they'll show up.

- Yesterday went to the ESPN Zone after arriving, got their Black and Blue burger with a baked potato and a Newcastle...yum!!!

- It's mad humid here! Much worse than in years past.
